Did you know… that oatmeal is good for your milk supply? You can have oatmeal in your cereal bars or just cooked cereal. The longer cooking oats are better than instant — and steel cut is the healthiest version. Then, there’s oatmeal cookies. Here is a recipe for lactation oatmeal cookies to give your milk supply a boost:

Lactation Oatmeal Cookie Recipe
1 cup butter (preferably Olivio or other type of olive oil butter)
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
4 TBLS water
2 TBLS ground flaxseed (found in Hy-Vee healthy food section or health food store)
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour, whole wheat is recommended
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
3 cups oats (longer cooking oatmeal, not instant)
1 cup or more of chocolate chips, peanut butter chips or raisins if desired
2-4 TBLS brewers yeast (find in Hy-Vee healthy food section or health food store)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix 2 TBLS flaxseed meal with water and set aside, you will need it later. Beat butter and sugars well. Add eggs and mix. Stir in flaxseed mix and add vanilla to butter mix. Beat well. Sift together flour, brewers yeast, salt and baking soda then add to butter mix. Stir in oats and chips. Scoop or drop onto baking sheet an inch apart and bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
